GMB back Shelly for LYL Chair

I am pleased to announce that the GMB has become the second union this week to officially offer its support for my campaign for Chair of London Young Labour.
The GMB represents workers and students in both the public and private sectors, and London Young Labour has a large number of GMB members among its activists.
I am honoured that, on top of my growing list of supporting members, two of the UK’s largest trade unions have endorsed me. I intend to continue working with the unions on their campaigns on youth unemployment, education, healthcare and more.

I believe London Young Labour can form a strong movement that will speak to young people of all backgrounds –  from school and university students to young workers and graduates. Our vision must be to join up with Labour clubs, deliver our message to sixth forms, discuss ideas with trade union youth wings. We cannot win if we do not work together.

"Shelly has demonstrated a firm commitment to Trade Unions and their need to take action on youth unemployment and public sector pensions. We believe Shelly can take our young members worries and aspirations to the political stage and win for young Londoners." - David Braniff-Herbert, Chair of GMB Young Members
